We\'re In Your Corner
When It Matters Most

Filing a claim can feel overwhelming — especially after a storm. Bulls Insurance guides every policyholder through the process, advocates for fair settlements, and makes sure you don\'t get shortchanged.

What to Do After a Loss

Follow these steps to protect your claim, your rights, and your settlement.

1

Ensure Safety First

Don't enter a structurally compromised building. If there's gas smell, standing water near electrical, or structural instability — stay out and call 911. No property is worth a life.

Utility shutoff valves and your breaker box location should be known before storm season.

2

Document Everything

Before any cleanup, photograph and video record all damage thoroughly — every room, every wall, ceiling, floor. Include exterior, roof (from ground if possible), garage, fencing, and landscaping.

Time-stamped photos are critical. Don't delete anything. Upload immediately to cloud storage.

3

Make Emergency-Only Repairs

You can cover broken windows with tarps or plywood to prevent further water intrusion. Save all receipts — these emergency repairs are typically reimbursable under your policy.

Do NOT make permanent repairs before an adjuster inspects the damage.

4

Don't Sign Anything

After a storm, contractors will knock on your door. Do NOT sign an Assignment of Benefits (AOB) or any work authorization until your claim is properly filed and you've spoken with your agent.

An AOB transfers your insurance rights to the contractor — you lose control of your own claim.

5

Call Bulls Insurance

Call (941) 685-5467 as soon as it's safe. We'll open your claim, help document your losses, communicate with your carrier, and advocate on your behalf throughout the entire process.

You don't have to talk to the insurance company directly — that's what we're here for.

6

Meet the Adjuster

Your carrier will send a claims adjuster to inspect the damage. You have the right to have your own public adjuster or Bulls Insurance representative present. We strongly recommend it.

Keep a log of all contact: names, dates, what was said. Get everything in writing.

What You Should NEVER Do

After a storm, you\'ll have contractors, restoration companies, and public adjusters all competing for your claim. Some are legitimate. Many are not. Here\'s what to avoid:

  • Sign any Assignment of Benefits (AOB) document
  • Throw away damaged items before the adjuster sees them
  • Make permanent repairs before your adjuster visits
  • Accept a settlement before reviewing it with your agent
  • Let a contractor speak directly to your insurer on your behalf without your involvement
